DVI Lighting Inc. Recalls Semi-Flush Mounted Medium Base Luminaires

DVI Lighting Inc. has recalled the Semi-flush mounted medium base luminaires intended for use with maximum two 100 watt “Type A” lightbulbs. The luminaire wiring may overheat if the lightbulbs are too close to or in contact with the wiring, resulting in a possible short-circuit and potential fire.

Some products were not assembled with an approved 2×100 watt medium base cluster. The non-approved cluster may allow the wires to either come into contact with the light bulbs or violate the UL/CSA standard of coming within 2 inches of the bulbs. This can cause overheating of the luminaire wiring.

As of February 2017, the company has received one report of short-circuiting in Canada. Approximately 48,000 units of the affected products were sold in Canada.

Consumers should immediately stop using the luminaires and contact DVI Lighting Inc.
