Device Could Double Useful Bandwidth in Wireless Communications | In Compliance Magazine

Researchers from Cockrell School of Engineering have developed a smaller and more efficient radio wave circulator that potentially could double the amount of useful bandwidth in wireless communication devices. The new circulator uses full-duplex functionality that would allow wireless devices to transmit and receive signals on the same frequency band at the same time.

Eliminating the use of a magnetic bias, the researchers were able to reduce the size of circulator and use less expensive and more common materials. The reduction in size and cost could lead to these new circulators becomming integrated into cellphones and other wireless devices, improving faster downloads and improved communications.
