Desco Launches Statshield® Foil Moisture Barrier Bag with IPC/JEDEC Moisture Sensitive Caution Markings

Desco now manufactures a series of foil moisture barrier bags pre-labeled with the IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033B moisture sensitive caution markings. The Statshield® Foil Moisture Barrier Bag identifies moisture sensitive devices for levels 2, 2a, 3, 4, 5, and 5a as defined by J-STD-020. The 4 mil thick material is designed for electrostatic discharge (ESD) shielding protection when dry packing components and meets the requirements of ANSI/ESD S20.20, ANSI/ESD SS41, and ANSI/ESD S11.4 Level 1.

Moisture barrier bags work by enclosing a device with a metal or plastic shield that has a high resistance to moisture vapor permeation. Dry devices are placed inside this shield, and the moisture-laden air is evacuated. All Statshield® Moisture Barrier Bags are amide, amine, and silicone free and pass outgassing and corrosion tests. The aluminum foil construction’s moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) is rated at ≤0.0003 per ASTM F1249-90 (flex testing per ASTM F392).
