Demonstration of Invisibility Cloak Manipulates Electrical Current and Heat Flux

Demonstration of Invisibility Cloak Manipulates Electrical Current and Heat Flux | In Compliance Magazine

University of Hangzhou researchers have successfully demonstrated for the first time an invisibility cloak that can manipulate both electrical current and heat flux at the same time. To design the cloak, the researchers first had to validate different equations could take place at the same time and then develop the material to demonstrate the configuration.

The bi-functional electric-thermal invisibility cloak features a bilayer shell system. The inner layer expels electric current or heat flow, and the outer layer attracts and concentrates the current and heat flow. The integration of both functions in a single cloak could lead to advancements in on-chip devices, and high-performance solar cells.
