Dehumidifier Recall Expanded

Gree has expanded a September 2013 recall with the addition of approximately 350,000 more dehumidifiers due to serious fire and burn hazards. The addition includes GE brand 30, 40, 50 and 65-pint dehumidifiers.

The CPSC has received 16 incident reports of the recalled GE-brand dehumidifiers, with 5 of those reports resulting in fires that caused $430,000 worth of property damage. The GE brand dehumidifiers are light gray plastic and measure between 19 and 23 inches tall, 13 and 15 inches wide and 9 and 11 inches deep. Consumers should immediately turn off and unplug the unit and contact Gree to receive a refund.
