Crash-Test Dog Dummies Used for Testing Car Safety Restraints

A collaborative study conducted by Subaru and the Center for Pet Safety to test the effectiveness of popular pet harnesses to keep dogs safe during a crash.

The study used dummy dogs that the team believes to be the nation’s first instrumented, weighted and corrected canine prototypes – a 75 pound golden retriever, 45 point border collie and a 25 pound terrier mix. This study was the first of many that will test other travel products like car crates, carriers and barriers.

Read more about the results of the study and which harness ranked the best in protecting a dog in a crash.
