Construction Begins on Largest Solar Photovoltaic Research Center in the Southern Hemisphere

A 3.275 megawatt, 40,000 solar panel research facility is being built on the University of Queensland in Australia. This center will be the largest solar photovoltaic research facility in the Southern Hemisphere.

The facility will provide research opportunities to improve grid integration installation of large solar power systems.  Researchers will be able to study the effects of short and medium term energy store of large-scale photovoltaics. In addition to the research capabilities, the facility will produce enough electricity to power 30 percent of the campus.
