Circuit Breakers Recalled for Fire, Burn, and Electrical Shock Hazards

Schneider Electric issues recall for PowerPact J-Frame Circuit Breakers due to fire, burn, and electrical shock hazards. The thermal-magnetic circuit breaker will not trip during an overload posing hazard to the consumer.

Units will have the brand name, “Schneider Electric” or “Square D” located on a yellow sticker above the breaker handle and along the top side. The label containing the model number can be found on the front left-hand side of the breaker, affected models are “NJ” and Square D catalog numbers beginning with “J”. The recalled circuit breakers were manufactured between March 24, 2014 and September 26, 2014 and will have a date code range between 14131 and 14395. Consumers with recalled units should immediately cease use and contact Schneider Electric for a free replacement or credit.
