Chrysler has issued two voluntary recalls for three of its models from two unrelated problems. The Grand Cherokee/Durango recall will address a “pedal fee” issue on the brakes and the Fiat recall is for a glitch in the car’s transmission software. There have been no accidents or injuries reported from these two issues.
The recall of 25,250 Grand Cherokee/Durango vehicles was prompted by a part supplier who believes that one of their components was interfering with the car’s Ready Alert Braking system. After investigating the issue, the automaker found brake fluid was being restricted and caused the diminished brake pedal feel.
The Fiat 500L recall affects 19,500 vehicles and is linked to a microcontroller associated with the transmission.Engineers from Chrysler looked into the problem after receiving reports that some vehicles equipped with dry clutch automatic transmissions would not shirt properly from park or the transmission did not engage.
