CDM Electronics Now Offers Kings by Winchester’s Full Lines of Mil-Spec RF Interconnects and Adapters

CDM Electronics has announced they now carry the full line of Kings® by Winchester Electronics’ RoHS-compliant, 50- Ohm Mil-Spec RF connectors and accessories for today’s mission-critical military and aerospace communications applications.  CDM now stocks one of the industry’s largest inventories of standard and customizable Kings’ 50-Ohm RF interconnect products, which notably features parts engineered to perform resonance-free thru 11 GHz.  Included are MIL-PRF-39012 coaxial connectors (BNC, C, N, SMA and TNC series) and MIL-PRF-49142 triaxial connectors (TRT and TRB series). Additionally offered are MIL-PRF-55339 coaxial adapters (BNC and TNC series).  QPL certified plugs, jacks, receptacles and accessories are also available.  Winchester’s Kings parts may be ordered online in prototype as well as production quantities.

Environmentally and mechanically tested to conditions specified in MIL-STD-202, the interconnects ensure reliable performance in severe environments including high altitudes, extreme temperatures, shock and vibration, corrosion, moisture and humidity.  Connectors are designed to fit a variety of low-loss coaxial military-approved cables, and where applicable conform to Department of Defense specifications for solderability (MIL-STD-201, Method 2018).  Connector interfaces conform to MIL-STD-348.   To further ensure robust performance, the devices are supplied with gold-plated center contacts per ASTM-B 488.

The Mil-Spec RF connectors are offered to help defense contractors and military suppliers control costs and speed time-to-market while providing the airborne and terrestrial military markets with innovative and reliable interconnect solutions. Devices are widely specified in C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance systems) applications and are commonly employed in microwave radio, communication base stations, antennas, satellite communications, radar, instrumentation and a broad spectrum of hand-held field devices.

A Dash of Maxwell’s: A Maxwell’s Equations Primer – Part One

Solving Maxwell’s Equations for real-life situations, like predicting the RF emissions from a cell tower, requires more mathematical horsepower than any individual mind can muster. These equations don’t give the scientist or engineer just insight, they are literally the answer to everything RF.

MIL-PRF-39012 RF coaxial BNC connectors feature a frequency to 4 GHz with a voltage of 500 Vrms, whereas the C and N series perform to 11 GHz with a voltage of 1000 Vrms. The TNC connectors feature a frequency to 11 GHz with a voltage of 500 Vrms, and SMA connectors boast excellent performance thru 18 GHz with a voltage of 500 Vrms.    MIL-PRF-49142 triaxial TRT and TRB connectors feature a frequency to 500 MHz with a voltage of 400 Vrms.  MIL-PRF-55339 coaxial BNC adapters perform to a frequency of 4 GHz, while TNC adapters perform to 11 GHz.  Both adapter series are provided with a voltage of 500 Vrms.   The Mil-Spec RF parts are customizable to meet specific design requirements, and may be ordered with options including keyed connectors, reverse polarity, coupling nuts with lock-wire holes, and weatherproofing.  All components are precision machined and designed to minimize reflection and attenuation.
