The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has announced a call of interest for a new standards proposal project focused on acoustic performance requirements and measurement methods for high-gain amplified telephones. TIA is seeking participation from the user and general interest community.
The project is proposing several changes to the current standard, including adding requirements for digital interface telephones, sidetone, distortion for any volume control setting, and any input level. The revisions being proposed by TIA are necessary to improve the applications of this standard. The document for revision is TIA-4953-A and originally titled “Acoustic Performance Requirements and Measurement Methods for High-Gain Amplified Telephones.”
