This seminar goes beyond the basics to help understand the fundamental physics involved and to be able to make trade off decisions when the normal rules-of-thumb cannot be applied. The rules-of-thumb will help engineers make the correct decisions, but often the ‘shades of grey’ between the absolute black and white extremes are desired. This seminar will examine these grey areas and provide guidance to help engineers make the difficult trade off decisions.
Course Topics:
- Common Mode Noise from High Speed Differential Signals
- High Speed Board-to-board Connector Analysis
- Electromagnetic Band Gap Filters
- PCB Power Decoupling Myths Busted
- Using Lossy Materials to Mitigate EMI at GHz Frequencies
- Survey of EMC/SI Simulation Techniques and Tools
- Practical Real-World Modeling/Simulation
- Pitfalls, Pratfalls and Gotchas
