Blood glucose meters recalled

Nipro Diagnostics, Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of certain models of its blood glucose meters sold in the U.S. and abroad.

According to the company, a limited number of its TRUEbalance and TRUEtrack® blood glucose meters have an incorrect factory-set unit of measure. This incorrect setting could mislead consumers regarding their actual blood glucose level.

Nipro reports that its recall involves about 500 TRUEbalance meters and about 100 TRUEtrack meters that were distributed in the U.S. from September 2008 through May 2013. The company says that it has not received any reports of consumer or patient injuries or other adverse events related to the recalled meters.
