BIS Pushes WEEE Response to September

The UK Department of Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) was scheduled to release a statement to comments raised from its consultation on proposed changes to the producer compliance systems for the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) on August 16, 2013.

They have pushed their response several weeks due to the number of responses received. The BIS will publish a summary later this week and will follow with a formal response.

After the consultation, there were four options proposed for the future of the WEEE system. The options also address the concerns from producers that the cost of compliance with the regulations does not reflect the true costs of recycling.
