Earlier this month, outgoing U.S. President Joseph Biden announced the latest round of recipients of the National Medal of Science and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation.
In a ceremony held at the White House on January 3rd, Biden and the nation honored 14 recipients of the National Medal of Science and nine recipients of the National Medal of Technology and Innovation.
Established by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in 1959, the National Medal of Science recognizes outstanding contributions across a range of scientific disciplines. The National Medal of Technology and Innovation, established by the U.S. Congress in 1980, honors those whose work has directly contributed to economic growth and the strengthening of the country’s global competitiveness.
This year’s honorees include John Dabiri of the California Institute of Technology, Feng Zhang of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Jennifer Doudna of the University of California, Berkeley.
