The electronics retailer, Best Buy Co. Inc., announced that the company has recycled 1 billion pounds of e-waste over a six-year period. Since 2009, the company has collected more than 20 million products a year to be properly disposed of.
Their goal for the next six years is to collect 2 billion pounds of e-waste. Best Buy appointed Millward Brown to conduct a study about e-waste recycling and found that 61 percent of respondents do not recycle their electronic products. The reasons why people do not recycle is that they do not know where there is a recycling location, it’s an inconvenience, or there is a charge to recycle. The company is developing ways to help consumers recycle large products that are challenging to recycle.
