RNG is recalling their 100-watt bendable solar panels because they can overheat and pose a fire hazard. The firm has received 11 reports of the solar panels overheating, including three reports of property damage. No injuries have been reported.
The recall includes 1,500 solar panels that were sold online at Amazon.com, eBay.com and Renogy-store.com from May 2015 through October 2015 for about $300. The recalled solar panels are Renogy brand 100-watt bendable solar panels. They are black plastic sheets about 41 inches long by about 21 inches wide by about 1/8 inch thick. Model number RNG-100DB is on the top of the panel, either on the front or back.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled solar panels and return them to RNG for free replacements.
