AVX Hermetically Sealed Tantalum Polymer Capacitors For Aerospace and Hi-Reliability Applications

AVX Corporation has announced the availability of its new TCH Series hermetically sealed tantalum polymer chip capacitors for aerospace and other high-reliability applications.  Featuring conductive polymer electrodes, TCH Series capacitors exhibit very low ESR and low derating capabilities in addition to high ripple current, high capacitance (1.5-680µF), and the highest voltages (10-100V) of any space-grade SMD tantalum polymer capacitor currently available on the market.

Hermetically sealed in ceramic cases filled with inert gasses to eliminate material and performance degradation resulting from exposure to high temperature, high humidity, and ambient atmosphere, TCH Series capacitors exhibit excellent performance stability in aerospace and other high-reliability applications, as well as enable a significant payload reduction for power supplies.

Housed in large CTC-21D cases, AVX’s new TCH Series hermetically sealed tantalum polymer chip capacitors provide high capacitance values, spanning 1.5µF to 680µF, and high rated voltages, spanning 10-100V.  Rated for use in temperatures ranging from -55ºC to +125ºC, TCH Series capacitors weigh a mere 2.4g each and are available with either J-lead or standard under-tab terminations.  Dimensions for TCH Series capacitors with J-leads are: 11.8mm x 12.5mm x 5.8mm.  Dimensions for TCH Series capacitors with under-tab terminations are: 11mm x 12.5mm x 5.45mm.

A Dash of Maxwell’s: A Maxwell’s Equations Primer – Part Two

Maxwell’s Equations are eloquently simple yet excruciatingly complex. Their first statement by James Clerk Maxwell in 1864 heralded the beginning of the age of radio and, one could argue, the age of modern electronics.
