Tom Ricciardelli

Tom Ricciardelli founded SelecTech in 1993 to create products from recycled materials, and invented an adhesive-free, interlocking static-control flooring system. He joined the ESD Association in 2013, and currently chairs multiple working groups. Tom Ricciardelli holds engineering degrees from MIT and an MBA from the Sloan School of Management. With decades of experience developing advanced polymer technologies, he has earned multiple patents and become deeply involved in the ESD industry. Since joining the ESD Association in 2013, he has chaired WG7 and contributed to several technical and marketing committees.

Common Pitfalls with ESD Flooring Systems

ESD flooring systems fail more often from misunderstanding than bad materials. This article walks through nine common pitfalls — from confusing anti-static with ESD-safe to poor grounding and installation shortcuts — and how to avoid each one.

Evaluating the Latest Strategies for Electrostatic Hazard Mitigation in Medical Environments

This article discusses the risks of electrostatic discharge (ESD) in healthcare settings and the new ESDA TR29 guidance document. It outlines causes of ESD, potential hazards like equipment malfunction and data loss, and preventive measures such as static control flooring, proper grounding, and humidity control. The article also describes recommended ESD control programs for healthcare facilities.

Static Control Flooring in High Reliability Environments

High reliability organizations (HROs) typically implement stringent static control programs to mitigate the risks of catastrophic and/or life-threatening failures. This article describes some of the considerations to consider for static control flooring in these more demanding environments.
