The affected cables were included with MacBook computers that were sold through June 2015. The recalled cables can be identified because they have “Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China” stamped on them, but do not have a serial number. The redesigned cables include a serial number printed after the text. Apple will provide a free replacement cable to all eligible customers.
Your MacBook may not charge or only charge intermittently when it’s connected to a power adapter with an affected cable.
