Ametherm Introduces New NTC Surface-Mount Thermistors in 0805, 1005, and 1206 Case Sizes

Ametherm introduced a new series of NTC surface-mount thermistors for high-accuracy temperature measurement. Recently acquired from RTI Electronics, Inc., KR series devices offer a wide range of resistance values and fast thermal response times in standard EIA 0805, 1005, and 1206 case sizes.

Providing designers with an alternative to radial leaded devices, the NTC surface-mount thermistors released today deliver high stability, reliability, and sensitivity for temperature measurement, compensation, and control in applications such as LCD controls and power transistor stabilization.

KR series devices feature resistance at 25 °C from 100 Ω to 150 kΩ, with tight tolerances of ±5 % and ±10 %, and negative temperature coefficients between -3.3 %/°C and -4.7 %/°C at 25 °C. The NTC surface-mount thermistors offer a dissipation constant of 2 mW/°C, maximum power ratings to 250 mW at 25 °C, and high-temperature operation to +150 °C. RoHS-compliant and lead (Pb)-free, the devices have five-sided wraparound silver palladium terminations and are available in bulk or tape-and-reel packaging.

Near and Far Field Measurements with a Vector Network Analyzer

For optimal performance in over-the-air RF systems, antennas must meet specific requirements. Performance parameters like size, wind-loading, environmental ruggedness, transmission pattern, bandwidth, and power handling capability should be considered. Methods of measuring the transmission (or reception) pattern that determines antenna gain with a VNA will be examined in this article.
