Ametek Solidstate Controls Begins Production at its Sao Paulo Manufacturing Facility

AMETEK Solidstate Controls has begun production at new manufacturing facility in Indaiatuba, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The new facility results from a multi-million-dollar contract with Petroleo Brasileiro, SA (Petrobras) to supply rectifiers, chargers, inverters and industrial UPS systems for the Comperj oil refinery under construction in Itaborai, near Rio de Janero.

Solidstate Controls will provide similar equipment to the Petrobras RLAM refinery expansion in Bahia and to Gerdau, one of Brazil’s leading steel producers. Along with these projects, it has additional opportunities in petrochemicals, mining and transportation elsewhere in Brazil and across South America.

Work began on the Indaiatuba facility in February 2012 with construction of the UPS assembly line starting in May. Staffing, tooling and construction were completed in only 13 months, and the first UPS production units rolled off the line in June 2013.
