Aeroflex Introduces a Multi-Strategy Test System for Analog In-Circuits and Functions Test for Electronic Assemblies

Aeroflex has announced its new 5860 multi-strategy test system that combines analog in-circuit test and functional test capabilities in a compact, floor-standing system. This system is the first Aeroflex ATE (Automated Test Equipment) product incorporating a Virginia Panel – the industry-standard mass interconnect interface suitable for all production test requirements.

The 5860 allows seamless integration of third party PXI instruments in a single test system for fast and configurable in-circuit test, functional test and device programming. The system is SMEMA (Surface Mount Equipment Manufacturers Association) compliant and is self-contained in a small footprint (900mm D x 600mm W). There are two other body styles available in the 5800 series – bench-top (5860) and rack mount (5830). All three body styles have a common core of 21-slot rack, power and utility cords.

Near and Far Field Measurements with a Vector Network Analyzer

For optimal performance in over-the-air RF systems, antennas must meet specific requirements. Performance parameters like size, wind-loading, environmental ruggedness, transmission pattern, bandwidth, and power handling capability should be considered. Methods of measuring the transmission (or reception) pattern that determines antenna gain with a VNA will be examined in this article.
