A team of researchers has created four strands of DNA that can carry an electrical signal that could be used in electrical processors. The researchers chose DNA molecules as their method to create complex electrical circuits because DNA naturally self-organizes into complex forms.
This research could lead to new microelectronic developments using parallel processing and increased electrical processor speeds. The DNA-based electrical circuits would allow transistors to be placed closer together, and more chips placed on a chip.
