Presolicitation Released for Advanced Microsystems and Techniques for Jam-Resistant RF Communications

 

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has released a presolicitation for proposals that review the feasibility of wideband spread-spectrum RF communications with more than 10GHz instantaneous bandwidth, and operate below 20 GHz. The project is part of DARPA’s Hyper-wideband Enabled RF Messaging (HERMES) program.

The military is dealing with the problem of malicious jamming and signal fratricide as the RF spectrum becomes more crowded. The primary goal of the project is to achieve more than 70 decibels of jammer suppression through two different types of research studies; system architecture development and photonic receiver development. DARPA is expecting to reward multiple awards from the solicitation.  Companies wanting to respond should submit their proposal by August 12, 2014.
