FCC Proposes $48K Fine in Cell Jammer Investigation

Sharjah-At Best

The Federal Communications Commission has proposed a fine of $48,000 against a Seffner, FL man who allegedly jammed consumer cell service from his car over a two year period.

According to the FCC, the man’s jammer operation “could and may have had disastrous consequences by precluding the use of cell phones to reach life-saving 9-1-1 services provided by police, ambulance and fire departments.” The interference was found to take place on a section of Interstate 4 in Hillsborough County. Using complex interference detection techniques, FCC Enforcement Bureau agents were able to find the source of the interference and seized the illegal device from the vehicle.
