Aeroflex Limited announced that Dell has chosen TeraVM™, a virtualized IP test solution, to demonstrate the readiness of the Dell ecosystem for Virtual Network Functions (VNF). The demonstration took place at the Red Hat Summit in San Francisco on April 14 – 17, 2014.
“TeraVM is an excellent solution available which enables us prove that virtual network functions on cloud platforms are of an acceptable quality and highly performing”, commented Franklin Flint, Global Telecommunications Strategist and Marketing Director, Dell OEM Solutions, “TeraVM has enabled us to show without doubt, that the software-based VNFs on the COTS* cloud platform are not only operational but in most cases exceed the performance of an equivalent network product on proprietary hardware”.
“Dell’s acceptance of TeraVM as a VNF not only demonstrates how traditional networking technology is changing, but more importantly shows that network performance testing is evolving to be a service entity in carrier networks,” said Mark Lambe of Aeroflex. “We are really excited by the recognition we have received from Dell, but more so by them selecting us to be part of Dell’s cloud ecosystem for NFV”
TeraVM is a virtualized test solution that is orchestrated through Red Hat’s OpenStack cloud operating system as a VNF. TeraVM enables advanced network and application performance test and measurement on a per flow basis. TeraVM facilitates functional verification of the cloud operating system, dedicated network and traffic policy settings. TeraVM is also used to verify the performance of application traffic services with dedicated: compute, networking, and storage, ensuring no quality degradation to potential users of the cloud and service.
