Yankee Candle recalls candle rings

The Yankee Candle Company of South Deerfield, MA has issued a voluntary recall in connection with its pine berry candle rings sold in the U.S. and Canada, and manufactured in China.

Yankee Candle reports that the synthetic foliage and berries that comprise the recalled candle rings are actually flammable, and pose a fire and burn hazard to consumers. The company says that it has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the candle rings, but has initiated the recall to prevent such incidents in the future.

The recalled candle rings were sold through Hallmark and Yankee Candle retail stores nationwide, through Yankee Candle catalogs, and online at Yankeecandle.com during September and October 2013 for between $8 and $10. The company estimates that about 15,000 of the recalled candle rings were sold in the U.S. and an additional 2000 in Canada.
