In this session we will discuss some of the key Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) challenges when developing and deploying RADAR & EW systems that need to function in congested and/or contested RF environments. Topics include an overview of the issues facing coexistence, such as a contested and congested spectrum, spectral sensing and sharing, and dynamic spectrum allocation. We will highlight some real-world examples of coexistence challenges such as c-band 5G and aircraft RADAR altimeters and GPS interference with co-located satellite-based communication. This session will conclude with an overview of the characteristics and architectures of test systems that are used to create realistic RF environments to test systems under real-world operational conditions in a controlled laboratory environment.
