Hyundai is recalling 27,500 Genesis sedans from the 2009 to 2012 model years to fix faulty breaks. The recall is being called to address potential durability issues with the brake system’s Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit.
The recall is a supplement to the March 2013 recall that didn’t capture all the vehicles affected by the problem. Only 60% of the vehicles with the problem were brought in for repair but Hyundai is hoping that this recall will bring in the rest to be fixed. The affected cars were manufactured from April 1, 2008 through March 16, 2012.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received 23 complaints alleging incidents of increased brake pedal travel and reduced brake effectiveness.
