New Research Partnership Aims to Improve Technology behind Wireless Communication Systems and Smartphones

A new research partnership between Kansas State University’s Electronics Design Laboratory and Avatekh Inc. are working together to help improve the technology behind wireless communication systems and smartphones.

The researchers are working towards extending and commercializing hardware algorithms that can reduce electronic noise and interference between industrial and consumer products.

Smartphones are compact devices that house multiple RF transmitters and receivers (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and cellular) and although each system uses a different part of the wireless spectrum, they still can interfere with each other.  Through this partnership, the researchers are expecting to improve the performance of smartphones by reducing the interference between the systems.
