Chairman Pai Releases List of Accomplishments

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has released an exhaustive list of the accomplishments under Ajit Pai since he assumed leadership of the Commission in early 2017.

An 11-page press release issued in late January lists nearly 100 separate efforts achieved by the FCC during the past three years, addressing areas as diverse as “Bridging the Digital Divide,” Promoting Innovation and Investment,” and “Protecting Consumers.” Key areas of success include:

  • Freeing up spectrum for the deployment of 5G services
  • Stepped-up enforcement against pirate radio operations
  • Greater oversight over radio frequency devices that cause harmful interference
  • Strengthening of rules and regulations for robocalls and spoofing

The list also includes nearly 15 achievements related to “Eliminating and Modernizing Outdated Regulations,” including the removal of outdated legacy voice service and cellular regulations, and the updating of personal service radio rules.

A Dash of Maxwell’s: A Maxwell’s Equations Primer – Part Two

Maxwell’s Equations are eloquently simple yet excruciatingly complex. Their first statement by James Clerk Maxwell in 1864 heralded the beginning of the age of radio and, one could argue, the age of modern electronics.

Pai was originally appointed to the FCC by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2012.
