IKEA is recalling 30,600 floor and table lamps because they pose a risk of electrical shock to consumers. The hazard is caused by cables that were damaged during manufacturing and can come in contact with the metal body of the lamp. IKEA has received three reports of incidents during which the lamps caused minor shock.
IKEA takes product safety very seriously. All our products are tested to and comply with applicable testing standards and legislation.
The recall includes floor and table lamps in IKEA’s Gothem collection. The lamps were made in China and sold at IKEA stores nationwide and online at www.ikea-usa.com from October 2015 through February 2016 for between $20 and $50. They are brush-finished nickel plated and have a dimmer switch. The floor lamp is 49 inches tall, and the table lamps are 14 or 18 inches tall. “Gothem” and the IKEA logo are printed on the label on the bottom of each lamp base. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled floor and table lamps and return them to any IKEA store for a full refund.
