Approximately 1,500 power banks that were given away as free promotional items are being recalled because they can overheat, explode, and catch fire. CleggPromo sold the CPB-100 power banks to seven corporate customers who gave them away for free at corporate events, meetings, trade shows and conventions from January 2014 to April 2015. There has been one reported incident of the power bank overheating, exploding and catching fire, resulting in fire damage. No injuries have been reported.

The recalled power banks are used to provide emergency charging for portable electronic devices. They are cream colored, about 3 1/2 inches long, and rectangular in shape with rounded corners. The word “POWERBANK” is printed on a silver panel, and the front side of the power bank has a micro USB port with the word “In” below it. The end of the power bank has a standard USB port with the word “Out” and an LED power indicator light.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled power bank and contact CleggPromo to receive a a prepaid shipping box and instructions on how to return the power bank free of charge. In exchange, consumers will be sent a set of executive pens as a replacement product.
