Double Insight is recalling their Insta Pot pressure cookers because a manufacturing defect can lead to electrical leakage from the thermal probe in the base, which poses a risk of electric shock. Three consumers have reported being shocked while using the pressure cooker.
The recall includes about 1,140 Bluetooth-enabled Instant Pot “Smart” and “Smart-60” electric pressure cookers that were sold online at Instantpot.com and Amazon.com from November 2014 through May 2015 for about $250. They are about 12 inches tall and wide, made of stainless steel and black plastic attachments, with a control panel/keypad on the front. Serial numbers between 1410 and 1503 and manufacture dates between 12/1/2014 and 6/1/2015 are included in the recall. The serial numbers and dates are printed on a label on the bottom of the appliance’s base.
Consumers should immediately stop using the pressure cookers and contact Instant Pot for instructions to receive a free replacement base.
