A study from IHS Automotive has predicted that by the year 2035, there will be approximately 54 million self-driving cars on the road. They also project that by 2030 cars that are purely autonomous with no driver controls will be available.
Automakers are working with this new technology to develop cars and several states have approved laws for testing these vehicles on roads. Google has recorded over 500,000 miles testing its self-driving research vehicles.
