The California Plug-In Electric Vehicle Collaborative reported that over 100,000 electric vehicles have been purchased in California since 2010, totaling 40 percent of the U.S. plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) sales.

Christine Kehoe, Executive Director of the California Plug-In Electric Vehicle Collaborative, stated “California’s plug-in electric vehicle market is ramping up, and we expect to see significant growth over the next ten years as customers realize how economical and convenient they are.”  Gasoline prices in California are at $4 a gallon and continue to rise, while driving on electricity is comparable to $1 per gallon of gasoline.  New models of PEVs are being introduced every year, and electric utility companies are continuing to work towards an affordable and reliable fuel source for consumers.
