370,000 Toyota Sienna Minivans Recalled

Toyota has issued a recall for model year 2004 to 2011 Toyota Sienna minivans because the spare tire mounted on the underside of the vehicle could fall off while driving. The recall only affects those vehicles that were sold or registered in cold weather states where salt is used on roadways.

The spare tire is located under a splash protector that is supposed to keep water from reaching the spare tire carrier. The splash protector may not have been installed properly and could fall off. This is the second recall for the same problem. The first recall was issued in April 2010 and the splash protector and anti-rust agent were used to reduce the effects of corrosion.
