3 Million General Motor Vehicles Recalled Worldwide

General Motors has recalled 3 million cars and trucks worldwide due to five different safety issues involving brakes, lights, wipers and steering. The company received hundreds of complaints of problems and several that have resulted in injuries.

The majority of vehicles, 2.7 million, are located in the United States. One of the recalls that affect steering in pickups and SUVs prompted the company to send letters overnight to owners informing them to have their vehicles towed to a dealer to be inspected and repaired if necessary.

The other recalls include:

  • tail lamp issue that can deactivate cruise control, traction control, electronic stability control and the panic braking assist feature in Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura models
  • low-beam head lamps in Chevrolet Corvettes
  • windshield wiper failures in Cadillac CTS
  • hydraulic brake booster malfunctions in Chevrolet Malibu
