100,000 Trane Air Conditioning Systems Recalled

Trane U.S. Inc. has issued a recall for 37 models of Trane XB300 and American Standard brand Silver SI split system air conditioning systems due to a shock hazard. These units are being recalled because ground screws are missing two threads that are necessary to ground the unit properly.

The units are gray with a black grated front and featuring a Trane or American Standard logo. The model numbers are printed on a nameplate that is affixed to the back of the unit.  Independent distributors sold the systems between February 2010 and March 2014. Consumers with recalled systems should immediately turn off the unit from the main breaker switch and contact Trane, their installer, or service dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair.
