10,000 Genie Garage Door Openers Recalled

Genie has recalled 4 different models of garage door openers because the control board could overheat, posing a fire hazard. The company has received 4 reports of the control board overheating.

The recalled models were sold between August 2011 and October 2012 at home improvement stores in the USA and Canada. The recall includes screw drive models PowerMax 1200 and 1500 and Genie Po TriloG 1200 and 1500. Consumers should immediately stop using the opener, unplug it and contact Genie to receive a free repair kit. The kit includes a new control board and instructions for installation.
