1 Million Home Heating and Cooling Thermostats Recalled Due to Fire Hazard

White-Rodgers has issued a recall for four models of their digital heating and cooling thermostats for a fire hazard. The alkaline batteries used can leak on the circuit board posing a fire hazard.

The recalled thermostats are white with blue lighted screens, have three or four buttons on the right side or below the thermostat screen. The battery door is located on the top left corner. Recalled thermostats will have one of the following names printed on the front: “COMFORTSENTRY,” “DICO,” “Emerson,” “Frigidaire,” “Maytag,” “Nutone,” “Partners Choice,” “Rheem,” “Ruud,” “Unico,” “Water Furnace,” “Westinghouse,” “White-Rodgers” or “Zonefirst.” They were available for sale between January 2006 through December 2013.

Check to see if your thermostat is included in the recall and how to contact White-Rodgers for a free repair or to replacement thermostat.
