Two-Lamp Fluorescent Shop Lights Recalled Due to Fire Hazard

Cordelia Lighting has issued a recalled for their Commercial Electric brand hanging shop lights that were sold exclusively at Home Depot from August 2013 to March 2014. The lamp sockets in the metal light fixture can lose their connections and pose an electrical arc and fire risk.

The recall includes 222,000 shop light fixtures that use two, 48 inch, 2 pin, T8 fluorescent lamps. The company has received 888 incident reports, including 382 units smoking, 328 units catching fire, 173 units sparking and 5 units with electrical arcing. The fixtures are 48 inches long, 4.25 inches wide and 2.5 inches high and include two 10.5 inch chains for hanging. Consumers with recalled shop lights should immediately unplug and remove the unit and return to Home Depot for a full refund.
