Research Finds One Wi-Fi Hotspot for Every 150 People Worldwide | In Compliance Magazine

A study released by iPass has found that worldwide there is one wi-fi hotspot available for every 150 people and France currently has the most hotspots in the world. Hotspots fill coverage gaps by mobile networks and are usually provided at no cost to consumers.

The study predicts there will be 47.7 million hotspots worldwide by the end of the year. Approximately 34 million of hotspots are located in residential homes to expand a growing trend to widen home wi-fi to the local community.
