Glass Shade Holders Recalled due to Electrical Shock Risk

shade-holderWestinghouse Lighting announced a recall of their glass shade holders. Although no injuries or incidents have been reported yet, the pull chain switch is incorrectly wired, which poses a shock hazard.

The glass shade holders were sold exclusively at Home Depot stores nationwide from August 2014 through January 2015 for about $12. The recall includes Westinghouse Lighting brand 3 ¼ inch round glass shade holders, which are used with a round globe or decorative shaped glass shades. They are ceiling mounted and brass plated, with a 2 ½ inch pull chain. Model number 70242 and product date code “2014 APR” are stamped on the bottom of the holder.

Customers should immediately stop using the recalled shade holders and contact Westinghouse Lighting for a free replacement holder kit. To learn if your shade holder has been recalled, view the full recall notice.
