Development Projects Launched by IEEE Standards to Progress Innovations of e-health Systems

Medical Devices | In Compliance Magazine

The IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) has announced the launch of several standard development projects to continue the advancement of interoperable communications of personal health devices and 3D medical systems.

Five of the projects will be part of the IEEE 11073™ family, and will support plug-and-play, interoperable communications between a variety of e-health devices. These standards will provide improvement in monitoring of wellness and preventive healthcare, and supporting independent living, wellness and fitness. In addition, four other projects were launched that will focus on enhancing 3D imaging and simulation in healthcare.  These projects are being driven by a move towards e-health, and demand for more accurate patient data that is shared between emerging and traditional technologies.
