Construction of the First U.S. Test Track for Electric Vehicles Begins

Utah State University has begun construction of a facility to demonstrate in-motion wireless power charging of electronic vehicles. The Electric Vehicle and Roadway (EVR) Research Facility and Test Track will feature a 4,800-square-foot building and an electrified quarter mile oval-shaped test track.

The track uses wireless inductive power transfer pads to charge electric vehicles while they are in motion, reducing the need for battery packs and charging stations. The EVR will lead to advancements in electronic vehicle development, energy efficiency, and reducing emissions.
