Bosch Security Systems, Inc. of Fairport, NY has announced a recall of about 2000 of its Bosch GV4-series fire alarm control panels manufactured in China.
The company reports that the notification appliance circuit module installed in the panels can fail to activate an audible or visual alarm in the event of an actual fire, posing a fire and safety risk to consumers. Bosch says that it has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the recalled control panel, but has initiated the recall to prevent future such incidents.
The Bosch fire alarm control panels were sold through Bosch-authorized distributors and certified professional installers nationwide from January through December 2012. The recalled circuit module sold for about $90.
